Tiverton Canal Bowling Club

Match Report

Match Report - 28 Aug 2024, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60's navy beat Budleigh Otters

Weather: Some cloud came over early on that threatened to produce rain at times but it remained pleasant enough throughout.
Green: Looked parched, apparently condition a result of faulty watering system. Very quick so plenty of turn.
All players settled down well in what was a closely contest match on both rinks, Borough were able to relax having already sealed the Division 3 title whilst Budleigh had a very slim chance of gaining second spot but would need to gain 8 points in order to do so. Pete Chidgey's was the tighter of the two matches having got themselves in a good position, 9 - 4 after six ends then saw their opponents gradually claw their way back to within just one shot, 15 - 14 with two ends to go. The last two ends were very close but a single to both sides meant Chidgey got the win, 16 - 15.
John's side played very well to keep a their opponents from getting a good foothold although they probably felt they had a chance at 11 - 8 after twelve ends. The ends continued to be closely fought but Borough did well and closed the match out with an 18 - 11 win.
