Match Report - 07 May 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60's navy beat Seaton A
The first outing for newly formed 'Navy' side against Seaton A, who had come down to Division 2 from Division 1 last season.
Both TCBC triples started off well, especially Stewart's, having picked up a '7' on the second end and this obviously gave them a great platform which they managed to build upon, 16 - 5 up after nine. Their opposition started to find the green at this point and they managed to reduce the deficit to just '7' after fifteen ends but thankfully, a successful final three ends saw Stewart finish well for a 22 - 11 final score.
John's side looked and felt reasonably in control during the early part of the match but this side from Seaton grew in confidence on our surprisingly fast green and gained the upper hand with a '4' on the eleventh. It was nip and tuck at this point with shots being given away by both sides but it was on the fifteenth where an error of judgement on John's part, gave '3' shots away when holding '1' and this took the wind from his side's sails which Seaton took advantage of to secure the win by '7' shots, 13 - 20.
Thankfully the overall shot score remained in TCBC's favour to provide an overall winning start and 6 points on the board.
