Match Report
Match Report - 21 May 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60's navy beat Pinces Gdns
A perfect sunny afternoon once again, the council maintained green, not so perfect. In fact Rink 1 had not been played on for a season as the Council had killed the grass off. Budge, the Pinces skip was most bemused by the choice of using the rink for the first time in a league match. Both team struggled to literally bowl anything decent, mostly because it was so heavy! By the time the skips came to bowl it was nye on impossible to get to the Jack! Interestingly it was TCBC who benefited, going 5 - 0 up after four ends. However, the rink improved a tad which saw the home side settle that bit more and they began to consistently draw. So having kept level for about nine ends Canal began to fall behind, finally finishing 12 - 21 down.
Stewarts triple also started well, 4 - 0 up after four only to be pegged back two ends later. It was very closely fought after that but Stewart managed to keep on top with some excellent saving shots where needed, finishing strongly to secure the last six ends and the win, 21 - 8.
Despite the lost triple, the overall shot tally brings a much needed 6 points, not bad against a team who had previously played in Division 1.
