Match Report
Match Report - 30 Jul 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60's navy beat Seaton B
A warm, slightly humid afternoon near the sea front of Seaton, green looking lush and recently spiked played nicely apart from a particular straight hand on rink 3 (Stewarts).
Stewarts side did well to dominate the scoreboard right up to the thirteenth end (18 - 4), as the opposition were no pushovers, especially their number two who often made things difficult. Seaton started to make inroads, securing a run of three ends to make it 18 - 8, but Stewart was able to close the match out nicely, and come away with the very impressive win, 20 - 8.
John's started off well, taking out their shot bowl to pick up '3' but despite decent situations, the Seaton side seemed to be able to put in a telling bowl to see them on their way to gain the lead, 4 - 5 after six played. With the green offering, generally, a consistent line on either hand, the heads were often very close which meant things could suddenly change with each bowl sent down. Thankfully, our Canal side managed to get on top of the exchanges and after eleven ends, were 10 - 6 to the good. The ends continued to be closely fought, with Seaton's number two, Mike B, proving to be a bit of a nuisance, scuppering a number of our good opportunities. Even so, Seaton were limited to just another four singles, including a slightly hairy last end, where they were were holding four or five with just the skips to bowl. Thankfully disaster was averted and Canal came away with a second win, 15 - 10.
