Match Report
Match Report - 04 Aug 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club East of Exe beat Madeira
A beautiful latish summer evening, green not bad though half in shade and the late sun made seeing the Jack tricky playing into the shade. We started well on most of our rinks. Two continued to build strong leads, that of Jim Evans and Chris Hutter whilst Stewart's began to fall behind, getting stuck on '8' for a while. My rink came from behind to level, 8 - 8 after a '4' on the ninth but couldn't get the better of a Madeira side who's number three or skip would often find that telling bowl to scupper our chances when holding multiple shots. We made a fight of it but still had to settle for second place, 14 - 18.
Stewart's suffered a similar fate, having been 8 - 8, after nine, lost six ends in succession, before picking up two consolation ends, finished 13 - 21.
Meanwhile, Jim Evans' side limited their opposition to just four winning ends to complete an excellent 26 - 7 win 🙂.
Chris Hutter will have enjoyed his evening too, his side completing a 27 - 18 win despite a late flurry, that included a '7', from Madeira.
80 shots to 64 and two winning rinks each = 8 Points for TCBC. A decent result for sure, which must give a good chance of a top two finish but we'll have to wait to see how the other matches go. 🙏 Many thanks to all for helping to make this an excellent and enjoyable E of E campaign.
** Latest reports are that Hemyock picked up 9 Points from their match with Uffculme this same evening. Uffculme are definitely out of the running now so it's all really down to the Wellington v Hemyock match as to how things are likely to finish.
