Match Report - 01 Jul 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Men Foxlands and Top Club and County Troph beat Cullompton top club
Back from the 'Top Club' match away at Cullompton this evening, it was another very successful outing, with all of the five matches played, going Tiverton Canal's way. Garfield was first to finish in his 2 Wood Singles, 17 - 10. Stewart was up against Brian Clement, and after a very close battle, managed to close the match out nicely, 21 - 17.
Ian and Jim, raced away to and incredible 16 - 1 lead and then 20 - 4 just 3 ends later but then got stuck on 20 for the next seven ends, finding themselves at 20 - 15 with one end to play. Thankfully, a '2' on the last ensured the win, 22 - 15 and effectively wrap up the overall win.
Phil's 'Rink' set off well, going 8-1 up after 3 ends only to get caught up a few ends later. Another surge and a second '6' put them back in full command, and they wrapped things up after fifteen ends, 20 - 12.
Finally, it was John’s triple. Dropping a '5' was a bad way to start, but there was no need to panic. After seven ends, the Canal trio were 9 - 6. It was then nip and tuck for a while but then managed to gain some momentum to overcome Cullompton's stubborn resistance, finishing 18 - 12.
