Match Report
Match Report - 17 Jun 2024, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club East of Exe lost to Culm Vale
The fast green made it a challenging experience for many of us whilst others settled well. Scores fluctuated considerably, for example, Phil's rink were 2 - 10 down but gained a '5' to bring them right back in the hunt, picking up a '4' in the latter stages to go four shots up. Culm Vale came back to level but Borough gratefully secured the match with shot on the last end, 18 - 17.
Kevin Finan's rink raced away to an 11 - 1 lead against a Ryan Clements side who gradually pegged things back. However, Kevin looked to be holding firm only to drop a very frustrating '5' on the last end which resulted in a draw, 17 - 17.
John's rink began brightly against a Phil Murphy side to go 8 -2 up but the Culm Vale side began to tighten things up along with some key interventions from Phil and latterly, his wife Rose. This left John floundering somewhat, not for the first time, and in the end he side suffered a heavy defeat, 11 - 28.
Brenda's side were on the back foot from the off unfortunately, up against a a very tidy side skipped by Mark Tuckett, who appeared to strike on a regular basis when needed and to good effect, scuppering Brenda's more promising moments and thus, limiting this Borough rink to slim pickings, finishing 4 - 27.
It was a tough outing as many will have been expecting but there are positive signs that suggest better things will come over the coming weeks.
