Match Report

Match Report - 02 Jun 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club East of Exe beat Wellington

Initially sunny and Warm but soon cooled as the breeze and clouds increased. The green was fairly quick, quite swingy for some - took a bit of acclimatising to.
Stewart's rink began well and despite dropping a '4' managed to build a '6' shot lead after eight ends.
However, two ends later, Wellington had drawn level and they looked to be easing away at 14 - 17 after thirteen ends. But a run of three winning ends, that included a '4', saw Stewart regain the lead, 21 - 17 and they just managed to keep Wellington at bay over the last two ends, for a 21-20 win.
The two Phil's, Atkins and Saunders, made it an entertaining affair on their rink with their new found partnership already flourishing. 9 - 2 after five ends, then pegged back to 11 - 8 five ends later, they were just teasing us as they and their team, then went into over drive, securing six of the last nine ends for a 26 - 14 win.
Ian Turner's rink fought hard throughout, keeping up with their opposition, 6 - 6 after eight ends but then found themselves falling back as Wellington got on a slight roll to take a 7 - 13 lead after fourteen. Ian's side picked up a '3' on the fifteenth to make it very interesting but couldn't quite make the ground up, finishing a creditable second, 12 - 14.
John's rink 1, mostly in the shade, seem to suit their opposition well and they raced into a 0 - 9 lead after five ends. Eventually, John saw his side secure their first shot and two ends later, they got themselves into a much better rhythm, securing seven of the next eight ends to go 14 - 11 ahead. The last three ends were nip and tuck but this TCBC side did enough to come away with another win, 15 - 13.
