Match Report - 14 Jul 2025, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club East of Exe beat Madeira
East of Exe v Madeira this evening. After being slightly waylaid by a hefty thundery shower at the start, things got underway, both sides taking a few ends to settle with Madeira looking the happiest apart from one rink, that being against the Garfield, Lesley, Phil & Phil combo who were giving very little away and they ran away with their match, 27 - 7, up against a skip who I understand had been unbeaten 🙂. The rest saw Canal battling hard to get on top. Chris Hutter's side found themselves level, 8 - 8 after nine ends, having, frustratingly, dropped a '4' but managed to keep things tight, eventually finishing, 15 - 13. Stewart's side was 9 - 8 up after nine but unfortunately saw the match slip away over the second half, finishing 12 - 20. My rink was 1 - 4 down after four, then clawed our way back only to let slip a '5' on eleventh, to go 9 - 12 down. Thankfully, we then hit a bit of a purple patch and got control of things somewhat, or should that be, somehow 🤔winning four ends to go 19 - 12 up! Madeira didn't let up and closed the gap but not enough to deny Canal a third winning rink, 20 - 15.
An overall win of 74 shots to 55, 3 winning rinks = 10 Points Well done all players đź‘Ź, a good result against quite a resilient side.
