Dear ##firstname##
We have two events coming up on the next two Tuesdays.
On the 27th July we are hosting a number of members of Tiverton Rotary. From 5.30
we will have a friendly roll up, finishing around 7.00pm with a fish and chip supper
and the bar being open, it promises to be an enjoyable evening.
Please let us know your availability by updating the website or using the sheet in the
changing rooms.
On Tuesday 3rd August at 2.00pm we will be hosting centenarian Gordon Short who
will be taking to the Devon bowling greens next to commence a mammoth challenge
to commemorate his 100th birthday which he celebrated earlier this year. His main
aim is to promote Bowling as a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages from the very
young to the very old. A member of South Molton BC, Gordon will play 100 ends
of bowls over the next few weeks, challenging an official from 20 different Devon-
based clubs to five ends each. His challenge, which will be raising money for the
Torrington Bowling Club on 19th August, one of the oldest clubs in England following
its formation in 1645 during the English Civil War.
Gordon said: “my family has been supporting people in the farming community, many
of whom live and work on isolated farms in inaccessible areas over the beautiful
Devon countryside. Having an Air Ambulance to reach these areas in times of
emergency has over the years saved many lives and we are very grateful to the
Devon Air Ambulance Service for the service they provide. ” The more publicity we
get, the more this will be achieved, and hopefully the Greater the amount raised for
the Devon Air Ambulance.

Please come along and watch Gordon play his 5 ends at our club.
Best wishes
