Match Report - 03 Jun 2026, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60s navy beat Okehampton Yellow
Weather cold, blustery and wet for much of the match, improving towards the latter stages. Green bowled well considering the conditions.
Our two triples were kept the same as the previous week following the much needed 8 Point win. John's triple, began solidly to gain an early lead before pushing on well to secure four ends in a row and a 12 - 2 lead. Okehampton stopped the momentum briefly but another run of four successful ends moved Canal to a score of 19 - 4. This success was often thanks to some brilliant bowling from Kevin Parkin, who was having one of his best games if not, the best!
Then, after a blip, dropping a '3', John's side responded well with a '5' followed by a '2' ensuring comprehensive win, 26 - 8.
Stewart's side were were looking in trouble early on, going behind, 2 - 13 after just 8 ends but a '2' on the ninth gave them the mat which they put to good use by bringing it further up. This helped them to put together four more winning ends that put them 15 - 13 to the good! What a turnaround! Okehampton drew level briefly with a '2' but Stewart side held their nerve to control the last four ends to complete an excellent, 22 - 15 win! Happy Days!
