Match Report - 17 Jun 2026, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60s navy beat Ottery Hawks
Back from the Match – Over 60s ‘Navy’ v Ottery Hawks.
Stewart’s triple included Ian Turner coming in at lead, having not played an outdoor match all season! It mattered not as Ian was soon into his stride and he worked well with the combatant Bob Pulsford at two, who was keen to keep his winning ‘home’ run going!. With Stewart in high spirits, counting down the hours and minutes to his getaway to Greece, with Maggie, they controlled most of their match, stringing six winning ends together to go 14 – 2 up after eight played! A nervy four end blip brought Ottery to within five but Stewart saw his side restore their comfortable lead, three winning ends later, to go 20 – 9. The last three ends were close affairs but with Ottery restricted to singles on all, it gave Stewart’s side an excellent 20 – 12 win.
John’s triple saw a different pattern develop with shots being hard to come by for six ends and finding themselves 1 – 8 down, despite decent bowling from both sides. Canal stuck in there and were rewarded with a four winning ends from five, one of which included a ‘5’. This brought them to within one shot, at 10 – 11. John’s side battled well for the remainder, with Kevin especially having another excellent match, but they were just pipped by a single shot in the end, 14 – 15. The slow start proving John’s undoing, in this instance. Still, it’s still a good overall win and a useful 6 Points.
Next week we are at home to Seaton, start time 1.30pm. We’ll have a few changes which are still to be decided upon.
