Match Report - 08 Jul 2026, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60s navy beat Ottery Buzzards
Another very hot afternoon made it hard going for one or two players but they stuck at it to help see both triples come away with wins. Stewart's falling behind initially before drawing level then falling behind again at 3 - 7 after seven ends. But they grafted well against a side that were hard to shake off and put together a a number of slender winning ends which then finished with a '4' to see them in a 13 - 8 lead after fourteen played. The last four ends were shared evenly with singles ensuring an excellent 15 - 10 home win.
John's side found things a bit hard going but it was the same for the opposition which meant it was even stevens for a while. Thankfully the our side gained three winning ends which included a '4' that put them in a much happier position, 11 - 4 after ten played. However, this lead slowly unravelled and then a dropped '5' meant it was now 12 - 12 after fifteen. Not so good, to say the least! Thankfully, John and his side responded positively at this point, picking up a '3' then a '4' and finally a '5' to complete what might appear to be a comfortable win, 24 - 12? But It was far from comfortable before that final flourish.
Still, an excellent result against the side that were top of the tree, the same side (with one or two changes ) that beat us on their own patch in the first match of the season.
