Match Report - 05 Aug 2026, Tiverton Canal Bowling Club Over 60s Blue drew with Feniton eagles
Blues had a tough tussle on a brutal green at Feniton. Poor grass cover, damage from crows pecking for Leatherjackets not repaired, green not swept and a variety of runs evident.
David Hussey, Kevin Lower and myself had the only rink with grass on it. If they had mown it in the last week we might have avoided the muscle strain trying to get the length. After 4 ends trailing 1-9 things were looking ugly. However we persevered and eventually turned it around to win 19 to 16. The opposition skip appeared to be performing some form of Morris Dancing with much throwing of his bowls cloth to the ground each time his team missed a shot.
Barry, Pete and Phill, on the grotty brown excuse for a green, appeared to be cruising initially. Leading all the way through the majority of the game, their opposition started to inch back. Having got the jack for the penultimate end Feniton went long and ended up with a 4 on the end. The final end resulted in just one for them but it was enough to give them 17 to our 14. So we achieved a draw overall with 4 points apiece.
